Mucinex DM Expectorant Cough Suppressant Extended Release Tablet 40ct

Features:

• The immediate-release layer starts to work quickly, while the extended-release layer of the unique bi-layer tablet works for 12 hours

Ingredients:

• Active ingredients:Purpose(in each extended-release bi-layer tablet)
  Dextromethorphan HBr 30 mg:Cough suppressant ,Guaifenesin 600 mg:Expectorant
• Inactive ingredients:carbomer 934P, NF; D&C yellow #10 aluminum lake; hypromellose, USP;magnesium stearate, NF; microcrystalline cellulose, NF;sodium starch glycolate, NF

Directions :

• Do not crush, chew, or break tablet. Take with a full glass of water.
• This product can be administered without regard for timing of meals. Adults and children 12 years and older: one or two tablets every 12 hours; not more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
• Children under 12 years of age: do not use.

Warnings:

• Do not use: for children under 12 years of age; if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug
• If you do not know if your prescription drug contains a MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product
• Ask a doctor before use if you have: persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema; cough accompanied by too much phlegm (mucus)
• When using this product do not use more than directed. Stop use and ask a doctor if: cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache
  These could be signs of a serious illness. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use
• Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away

Due to their extended-release formulation, Mucinex tablets should not be crushed, chewed or be broken. If the tablets are too large or difficult for you to swallow, please speak with your healthcare provider

Do Mucinex, Mucinex DM and Mucinex D tablets have to be taken with food?
Mucinex tablets do not have to be taken with meals but should be taken with a full glass of water

Can Mucinex, Mucinex DM and Mucinex D tablets be taken with other liquids, such as milk, juice or coffee?
Research shows that certain liquids such as milk, some juices (such as grapefruit and orange juices) and caffeine may reduce the absorption of some active ingredients. For this reason, we recommend that you take Mucinex (or MucinexD or Mucinex DM) tablets with a full glass of water

Can Mucinex, Mucinex DM and Mucinex D tablets be used with an existing medical condition (i.e. diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure etc.)?
Speak with your healthcare provider if you are under a doctor's care for an existing medical condition or are taking any other medication before taking Mucinex products

Does the Mucinex, Mucinex DM or Mucinex D tablet dosage need to be adjusted for different body mass index (BMI)?
No, the Mucinex product dosage for adults and children 12 years of age and older should be followed using the dosing directions on the product label. There is no adjustment for BMI. For further questions, please contact your healthcare provider

In the blister packs, it seems that some tablets have a white side, some have a colored side...why?
Mucinex, Mucinex DM and Mucinex D are extended release bi-layer tablets. One side is the immediate release layer while the other side is the extended-release layer. The product in the blister packages only show one side of the tablet.

Is it normal for Mucinex, Mucinex DM and Mucinex D tablets to have a distinct odor?
Yes, this is normal and is caused by the guaifenesin (expectorant) in the tablets.

If the products are kept outside of the recommended temperature listed on the package, can it still be used?
It is not advisable to use products stored outside of the recommended storage temperatures since pharmaceutical products have a specific storage temperature range.
